How Fast Start Forum More Than Doubled to 473 Attendees, With Michael Phelps and Its Own Logo on the Guitar Hotel
Summary
For year two of Fast Start Forum, Tom Wall of Whole Life Mastermind wanted to go bigger and more premium, with sponsors carrying more of the event. We moved it to the Seminole Hard Rock, the Guitar Hotel, built a room with a full sponsor hall led by title sponsors Madan+, Wealth Building Cornerstones and OneAmerica, and brought in Michael Phelps as the keynote. Tom sold more of his Inner Circle Mastermind from a custom booth, the afterparty went out on the water with Tom's logo on the Guitar, and attendance grew from 194 to 473.
The Problem
Year one proved that life insurance agents wanted something better than a ballroom. For year two, Tom Wall wanted to go bigger and more premium, and to have sponsors carry more of the event.
What We Did
Here is how we built it, from the first plan to the last guest out. One team held all of it.
- 1Moved from the Hilton Fort Lauderdale Marina to the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino, the Guitar Hotel, one of the most exciting venues in the country.
- 2Designed a room big enough for more attendees and a full sponsor hall, and brought in a dedicated sponsor liaison. Title sponsors Madan+, Wealth Building Cornerstones and OneAmerica led about 16 partners in all.
- 3Brought in Olympic legend Michael Phelps as the keynote, alongside a program led by Tom Wall with speakers including Wade Pfau and Garrett Gunderson.
- 4Built Tom a custom booth for his Inner Circle Mastermind on the sponsor floor.
- 5Added a VIP track: a VIP cocktail hour and dinner, and a full VIP day to close the event.
- 6Threw an on the water afterparty, and put Tom's logo on the Guitar Hotel itself for everyone to see.
Challenges Overcome
What stood in the way, and how it was handled.
The original dates landed on a school vacation week, and the hotel's only other window was January 19 to 22, with very few rooms on the Sunday. We moved the event, then negotiated 50 more Sunday rooms so attendees could arrive the night before.

How It Went
It went well. 473 people came, more than double the 194 at the first Fast Start Forum, and everyone loved the chance to learn from an Olympic legend.
Tom sold more of his Inner Circle Mastermind than the year before, from the custom booth we set up for him. And the attendees loved the on the water afterparty, with Tom's logo lit up on the Guitar for everyone to see.
